Enjoy Your High School Years

High School.

Some people hate it. Some people love it.

I would give up so much to be back in high school. It was so much simpler and I had everyone I needed and wanted right around me. I didn't have all the money troubles I have now. Don't get me wrong, God has blessed me in more ways than I can count but, if I had one wish, it would have to be for me to be able to be back in high school for just one more day.

I didn't make the best decisions in high school but, they made me who I am today. Through all the mean teachers, endless nights studying for tests, and endless hours of writing papers about stuff I either didn't care about or care to know about, I honestly think my high school years were the best years of my life. I made the most meaningful relationship which I think will last a lifetime.

They say that the friends you make in college will be your friends forever but, I honestly think my friends from high school aren't my friends anymore, they are my FAMILY. I couldn't have imagined making such great relationships. I have always been so jealous of those people who have been best friends since kindergarten but, I don't think it matters how long you have been friends with someone but, how meaningful your relationship with your friends are.

The night before graduation, my school decided to have a graduation dinner. Most of the graduates showed up and the teachers, the advisors/counsellors, and the principal spoke along with the students. We had all been with each other for about 4-5 years so after the next night, we never knew when we would all see each other again. Many tears were shed (happy). Many hugs were given. All conflicts were resolved. This shows you how much we were like a family back at my high school.

I miss my high school family. We all went our separate ways after graduation. We went to college, into the military, straight into the workforce, and some took a year or so off to save money. Nonetheless, we are family and always will be. I love my high school and the friends I made there. Life was much simpler when you had people, who were going through the same things as you, were there for you to talk to. It is harder now because I can't just drive to my best friend's house and spend all day with her. I miss that the most.

To those who are ready for high school to be over with, in a few years, you are going to wish that you were back in high school. Growing up sucks but, we all have to do it. So, put your big kid panties on and go do some adulting.

Just remember it is okay to mess or not know what to do! It is called learning. We all do it. So I wish everyone the best luck to adulting....it is going to suck.....but good luck.

XOXO,

M.K.V.
