A Journey to Becoming a Teacher

Endless nights trying to think of creative things, freaking out because your lesson plan doesn't look right, or even thinking is it even worth all the frustration.
These are a few of the things that run through the mind of someone who is an education major.
Unless you are a teacher or fellow education major, people think it isn't that hard being an education major. Well sorry to burst your balloon but, you are wrong. Being an education major is absolutely difficult. Us education majors want to see a change in the world so, we are starting at the source: the future....A.K.A the children.
Ask any teacher, teaching is not an easy job. You are responsible for presenting the materials that students need to know. Sometimes teachers end up teaching stuff that they don't think is 100% necessary but, they do it anyways. Teaching is a profession that you go into because it is something you love because it is probably one of the worst paying professions EVER!
I knew, since preschool, that I wanted to be a teacher.
I absolutely hate it whenever I tell someone that I want to be teacher, they roll their eyes and say things like, "God bless you," "Oh goodness no! Not with the way the children are acting now!" or even "Why would you ever want to do that?!" You may not realize it at the time but, you are bashing and almost crushing my dreams! I want to enforce and encourage a change in the world that will hopefully change the way children are treating adults. It is adults who complain about the way kids are acting and not doing anything about it that isn't helping. If you don't like the way something is happening, do something about it, don't just sit there and complain.
I have always wanted to teach and I also want to see a change in the world and if I can help just one child, maybe they can help someone else and a change reaction can occur.
Being and education major isn't easy. You take endless classes about education on top of classes that you are forced to take like English, Biology, Calculus, and American History. Now don't get me wrong, these classes are important but, if a professor ever looked at the course work a single education class has, they may not give out so many assignments.
Whenever I see the education professors' faces light up due to our answers to the question, "Why do you want to be a teacher?" it makes everything I am doing, and going to do, worth the while. The education professors at Campbell University, where I am studying, are some of the best professors out there. They care SO much about us and are willing to take time out of their busy schedules to help us and even just stop and talk for a little while.
I LOVE being an Education Major and I wouldn't ever think about changing it. The road is tough sometimes but, I ultimately know that, in the end, everything will be worth it. I want to make my parents and professors proud but, ultimately I want to make God proud of me. He put me on this Earth to do something important and that is teach. I will not only teach my future students but, I will guide, love, and help them.
I have probably not met my future students. Maybe some aren't even born yet but, I am already proud of them.
I was able to work at a daycare for a short amount of time. I was able to see those amazing kids grow and learn and I can already see the amazing people that they are going to become!
Dear Parents whose children I got to teach at the daycare,
Your child(ren) have blessed my life in a way that I can't describe into words. I know your children will grow up to be amazing people and contribute a lot to this country and world. I hope I was able to influence them like they influenced me.
I know this post was a little all over the place but, I did not plan to write this. I literally just wrote whatever came out. Hope you enjoyed!!
XOXO,
M.K.V.
